The exhibition 《K-NOW!
Korean Video Art Today》, which highlights Korean
contemporary video art, is on view at MASI Lugano in Lugano, Switzerland
through July 19.
Featuring works by eight Korean
artists—Ayoung Kim, Park Chan-kyong, Jane Jin Kaisen, Sungsil Ryu, Sojung Jun,
Heecheon Kim, Onejoon Che, and 업체eobchae—the exhibition
explores global contemporary issues such as the historical memory of modern
Korea, technological innovation, platform labor, gender, migration, and
questions of borders.

Co-curated by Francesca Benini and Je Yun
Moon, the exhibition adopts an immersive display format that expands the
viewer’s experience, positioning video art not merely as a moving-image medium
but as an expanded artistic language through which to reflect on contemporary
social structures.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a
catalogue is published. The publication includes essays by the exhibition’s
curators Francesca Benini and Je Yun Moon, as well as by Adeena Mey, along with
interviews with the eight participating artists. Through these contributions,
the catalogue offers an overview of the history of Korean video art while also
examining video as a medium and situating it within the broader context of the
Korean art scene.
