The Arts Council Korea (ARKO, Chairperson Byoung-gug
Choung) and the ARKO Art Center will hold the public program “2025 ARKO DAY”
from August 26 to September 7 at the ARKO Art Center and ARKO Arts Theater,
introducing young artists and curators.
This event, part of the Korea Art Festival,
is designed to showcase Korean emerging artists to both domestic and
international audiences, coinciding with a period of active exchange in the art
world through international art fairs such as Kiaf and Frieze Seoul. A total of
27 artists and curators, selected through ARKO’s “2025 Young Artists Support,”
will present their artistic imagination, challenges, and creative potential at
ARKO DAY 2025.
The keyword for this year’s program is “The
Long Tail.” Borrowing from the “long tail” concept—where the 80% of the niche
majority holds greater value than the top 20%—the program highlights the value
of diverse and potential-driven art that supports the foundation of basic arts
and fosters a healthy art ecosystem, especially as interest in the art market
grows.

The highlight of 2025 ARKO DAY, the Artist Presentation, is a program that garnered significant attention last year
for its bold, performance-based experiments by visual artists. This year, it
will take place on September 5 at the ARKO Arts Theater Grand Hall.
Participating artists will go beyond their usual genres to present performance
showcases, lecture performances, screenings, happenings, flash mobs, and more.
Audiences can look forward to the pleasure of discovering a montage of
contemporary Korean art within the images these artists create.
This year, ten artists who have attracted
attention for their diverse perspectives and artistic approaches will
participate: Sangha Kim, Jinju Kim, Areumbit Park, Jung Yeon Park, Seunga You,
Eunju Hong, Lee Wonjeong, Younghae Chang, Yezoi Hwang, and Seo MinWoo. Producer
Shin Jinyoung of apparat/us joins as a partner, helping these artists expand
the boundaries of art beyond traditional media and forms of expression.

After the performances, a networking party will follow, connecting the artists who participated in 2025 ARKO DAY
with the audience. “A Casual Walk for Casual Net-Walkers,” curated by Lost
Air—a team of four female curators—offers a performance-style party that allows
participants to experience networking moments from a fresh perspective.
Additionally, from August 26 to September
7, the Open Space at ARKO Art Center will host the Artist Lounge: Contact Feed, a hub where artists can showcase their work and engage with one
another. Seventeen artists and teams—including Greem Kim, Suhwa Kim, Jaea Kim
& Hyunjin Park, Daseul Song, Yeosulme & Jaehwa, Minjun Shin & Mina
Kang, Byeori Ahn, Jihoon Yang, OZO, Miru Yoo, Daewon Yoon, Hyejeong Yun,
Lijung, Haevan Lee, Hosu Lee, Dahwa Jeon, and Kaliens (Minjung Park &
Yeyoon Avis Ahn)—will present insights into their research and creative
processes.
