Daejeon Museum of Art
presents 《NEXTCODE 2026: Glissando, Glissandi》 on view
through September 27.
“NEXTCODE” is the Daejeon Museum of Art’s annual
showcase of up-and-coming artists based in the Daejeon–Chungcheong
region. For more than two decades, it has explored the evolving directions of
the region’s contemporary art scene.
Its 28th edition, 《NEXTCODE
2026: Glissando, Glissandi》 , features seven artists– Kim Minju, Kim Jungin, Kim Hyun, Mimmo, Seunghwa Jeom, Yang
Jungeun, and Lee Juyoung –whose distinctive artistic
languages embody the experimental impulse of contemporary art while suggesting
new possibilities for regional artistic practice.
Grounded in personal
experiences and reflections on their respective media, these artists each
explore overlooked beings, painting as a means of resistance, sculpture beyond
its conventional boundaries, compassion through spatial experience, narratives
of illness and healing, the fundamental contradictions of human existence, and
landscapes of the inner self.

The subtitle “Glissando
Glissandi” draws inspiration from French composer
Iannis Xenakis’s radical conception of music as a
spatial structure in constant motion rather than a linear progression of notes.
Just as each glissando shapes a dynamic space through its own speed and
trajectory, this exhibition presents a landscape of glissandi in which seven
distinct modes of artistic thinking and practice unfold, intersect, and
resonate within a shared space.
