ARKO Art Center presents an invitational exhibition 《Undoing Oneself》 on view through October 26.

This exhibition is part of the program highlighting mid-career artists. This exhibition brings together five artists, each distinguished by their unique medium, visual language, and methodology. 《Undoing Oneself》 explores the paths of these artists, tracing how they engage in acts of self-critique and self-reference as they articulate their artistic worldview.

The primal question “Who am I?” becomes an attempt at articulation, a journey moving back to the “I” through recursive questioning. This exhibition frames the process of self-reflection and redefinition through the lens of medium—the foundation of an artist’s visual language.

For the artist, revisiting and interrogating the essence of the medium functions as the driving force of visual language. In doing so, the artist acknowledges the history and intrinsic vocabulary of the specific medium while subverting the grammar of established norms and temporal conventions, repositioning the “self” in the present by going against the foundations they already have.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the 2025 Korea Art Festival as well as Kiaf and Frieze Seoul, the ARKO Art Center will present “2025 ARKO DAY” a special program that introduces the multiple layers of Korean art in dialogue with the main exhibition. Further details can be found on the ARKO Art Center’s website.
