CAN Foundation is presenting its first
exhibition of 2025, 《Sudden
Attack》, at
MO BY CAN until April 18.
This group exhibition explores different
ways of understanding art. While viewers often rely on curatorial statements or
artwork descriptions to grasp artistic meaning, sometimes the essence of a work
is best conveyed when freed from explanatory constraints.
《Sudden Attack》 aims to offer such an experience by
rejecting a prescribed viewing sequence. Instead, the exhibition is arranged in
an integrated manner within a white-cube space, encouraging audiences to engage
with the works in an organic and intuitive way. Additionally, the artworks are
installed alongside vibrant graphic elements, enhancing sensory enjoyment while
offering diverse ways of engagement. Rather than adhering to a curator-imposed
interpretation, viewers are invited to navigate the exhibition on their own
terms, encountering the works organically through movement and perspective.
The exhibition challenges conventional
modes of art appreciation, emphasizing that the true power of art lies not in
predetermined “context” but in the dynamic process of perception and
experience. Through this approach, the exhibition encourages visitors to go
beyond passive observation, positioning them as active interpreters who explore
and recontextualize the artworks from their own unique viewpoints.
