Sweep Seoul inaugurates its space with the
group exhibition 《Land Ho!》, on
view through May 10.
The exhibition title, “Land Ho!,” echoes
the cry of a sailor who, after drifting across the vast ocean, finally spots a
faint horizon beyond the sea—an exclamation that signals both the end of a long
journey and the beginning of a new one.
《Land Ho!》 brings
together four artists—Hyeree Kim, Seounghee Lee, Hyori Cho, and Yiji
Jeong—framing the life of the artist and the process of creation as a voyage,
while illuminating the formal languages they have developed through tension and
accumulation.

The “white sea” we have crossed was at
times so still it seemed the waves had vanished, and at others it tested us
with unforeseen difficulties. Even in moments of drift—when the compass wavered
and the helm fell still—we never ceased our voyage, sustained by our belief in
the “Rainbow Island” we carried deep within the vessel.
Our course was never a straight line. Every
moment spent turning against the waves and adjusting our speed became part of a
long, sweeping curve that has finally brought us to this white sea.

This exhibition unfolds the shimmering
stories discovered along that journey. Within the white sea of art, we have
continued to cut through the currents, and we hope that the horizon we now
encounter will offer you, too, the courage to move forward into tomorrow.
