PKM Gallery presents 《Echoes from the Cabinet》, a solo exhibition
by Koo Hyunmo (b.1974), through July 19. Widely recognized for his poetic
resonance achieved through delicate aesthetics, Koo unveils 28 new works across
a variety of media—including ceramics, hanging and standing sculptures,
paintings, and drawings—woven together into a cohesive narrative structure that
reflects the artist’s personal memories and philosophical introspections.
Koo attunes himself to the inherent flow
and character of his chosen mediums, exploring their density and rhythm, sense
and balance. He unfolds these qualities through a range of plastic forms,
navigating the subtle boundaries between touch and vision, reality and concept,
the artificial and the natural. These delicate works invite visitors into a
contemplative space marked by quiet resonance and a lasting impression.

《Echoes from the Cabinet》 serves as a
space where the fragments of Koo’s long-accumulated meditations expand outward.
Here, the “Cabinet” serves as a metaphor for the artist’s private studio and a
repository of ideas. Fragments of memory, sensation, and contemplation
originating in this intimate realm ripple outward into the exhibition like
“Echoes”, generating visual waves throughout the gallery.
Like wild plants growing into a forest,
Koo’s diverse sculptures populate the ceiling, walls, and floor, forming an
organic environment where visitors navigate a landscape of both order and
disorder—each step resonating with a lingering impression.
