Artist_News Artist Jongjin Park Wins the ‘Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2026’ Jongjin Park has been selected as the final winner of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2026. Established in 2016, the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize was launched with the aim of carrying forward the spirit of craftsmanship rooted in Loewe, which began as a leather workshop in 1846. Now in its eleventh edition, the award has played a significant role in repositioning craft within contemporary artistic discourse by highlighting works that reinterpret traditional craft techniques through each artist’s own distinctive methods.

Biennale_News Binna Choi Appointed as Artistic Director for the 61st Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) has appointed curator Binna Choi as the Artistic Director for the Korean Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale) in 2026. Binna Choi previously served as a curator for the 2016 Gwangju Biennale and as a co-artistic director for the 2022 Singapore Biennale. She was the Director of Casco Art Institute in the Netherlands from 2008 to 2023. She is currently serving as a co-artistic director for the Hawai‘i Triennial 2025, which runs until May 4 this year.

Museum_Global K-Art ArtReview Introduces MMCA’s "Back to the Future," an Exhibition Exploring Korea's Contemporary Art History ArtReview has featured the ongoing exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) Seoul Branch titled Back to the Future: Exploring Contemporaneity in Korean Contemporary Art. The exhibition introduces artists who represent the contemporaneity of Korean contemporary art, featuring works acquired by MMCA from 2018 to 2022. While the exhibition primarily focuses on works created in the 1990s, it includes artworks from the late 1980s to the early 2010s, showcasing artists who witnessed significant political and socioeconomic changes in Korean society, including the transition to democracy, economic fluctuations, and the adoption of digital technology.

Gallery_Global K-Art Hakgojae Gallery to Join the Largest-Ever 15th Abu Dhabi Art Fair While South Korea is geographically closer to Southwest Asia than Europe and the United States, many Koreans are unfamiliar with Southwest Asian arts and culture. However, this region, particularly the United Arab Emirates, boasts a rich cultural and artistic scene, with institutions such as the Louvre and the Guggenheim, as well as events such as the Sharjah Biennial.
