Artist_News Artist Jongjin Park Wins the ‘Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2026’ Jongjin Park has been selected as the final winner of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2026. Established in 2016, the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize was launched with the aim of carrying forward the spirit of craftsmanship rooted in Loewe, which began as a leather workshop in 1846. Now in its eleventh edition, the award has played a significant role in repositioning craft within contemporary artistic discourse by highlighting works that reinterpret traditional craft techniques through each artist’s own distinctive methods.

Biennale_News Binna Choi Appointed as Artistic Director for the 61st Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) has appointed curator Binna Choi as the Artistic Director for the Korean Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale) in 2026. Binna Choi previously served as a curator for the 2016 Gwangju Biennale and as a co-artistic director for the 2022 Singapore Biennale. She was the Director of Casco Art Institute in the Netherlands from 2008 to 2023. She is currently serving as a co-artistic director for the Hawai‘i Triennial 2025, which runs until May 4 this year.

Gallery_Global K-Art Art Basel Hong Kong and Art SG Announces Exhibitor Lineup for 2024 Edition Art Basel Hong Kong is set to return to its pre-pandemic scale in March 2024, featuring 242 galleries from 40 countries and regions across different continents. This represents a significant increase from the 2023 edition, with a 37 percent rise in exhibitors, marking a return to the fair’s 2019 numbers. Museum_Global K-Art Hyunsoo Woo Discusses the Impact and Influence Behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Korean Art Showcase The Shape of Time: Korean Art after 1989 is the most extensive exhibition of Korean contemporary art ever held in North America, showcased at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exhibition was co-curated by Hyunsoo Woo, who began her curatorial journey in the U.S. in 1996 and was appointed deputy director at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2021. While the inception of this exhibition can be traced back to 2014, the unforeseen delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic only served to amplify anticipation within the American art community. Woo credits the surging interest in Korean art and culture, in part, to the global acclaim of Korean pop culture. This encompasses not only K-pop and the meteoric rise of groups like BTS and Blackpink but also internationally acclaimed films such as Parasite and Minari.

Nam June Paik was a pioneer in electronic moving images and digital compositions, coining the term “electronic superhighway” in 1974. His works demonstrated a remarkable insight into the role of digital media as an artistic medium, the expansion of global social networks, and the intersection of modern life with technology.
