The National Asian Culture Center (ACC) will present a series of
solo exhibitions throughout 2026 by four selected artists, chosen through its
“ACC NEWST” open call program, which supports emerging artists and provides
them with opportunities to exhibit their work.
As the first exhibition in the series, Lee Junggi’s solo
exhibition 《Translated Virtuality》 is on view through
April 26 at Space 7 of the ACC Creation.
《Translated Virtuality》 is an exhibition that
presents how scenes of reality are reinterpreted and translated into virtual
narratives and images, based on the artist’s personal experiences and emotions
regarding history and contemporary society.

Lee Junggi’s work is centered on the idea that “our present will
remain as relics in the future.” Crossing the temporalities of past, present,
and future, the artist visualizes the conditions and memories of our time as
relics of the future.
The exhibition features recent series such as ‘Relics of the
Era,’ ‘Present Being,’ ‘Possibility of Crisis,’ and ‘Landscape of Objects.’
Through various media, including painting, sculpture, and installation, the
works reconstruct everyday objects, figures, and social scenes into unfamiliar
forms, evoking contemporary sensibilities and memory.

The artist’s work begins with personal memory, family history,
and reflections rooted in social events. These experiences are transformed into
symbolic images and imagined artifacts, exploring the relationship between
reality and imagination, memory and history.
《Translated Virtuality》 invites us to reread
familiar reality from a different perspective, questioning how our present life
may be interpreted from the viewpoint of the future.
