On July 29, Hyundai Motor Company announced the five finalist teams for the Hyundai Blue Prize+ open call program, which supports emerging curators.

Launched in 2017, the Hyundai Blue Prize program has supported numerous emerging curators active in Korea and China. This year, under the expanded title Hyundai Blue Prize+, the program broadens its scope to include emerging curators who reside in Asia or conduct research on Asian themes. It aims to foster interdisciplinary research and the formation of transcultural discourse.

Over 160 teams of emerging curators from around the world applied to this year’s Hyundai Blue Prize+ open call. Following a thorough and rigorous review by the jury, five teams were selected as finalists: Cora Yubin Luo & Karen Keshi Lin, Hyejin Park & Yoonyoung Park, Kun Ruan, Yifeng Wei & Penny Dan Xu, and Jielei Zou & Xue Sun.

The jury noted that “collectively, the competing proposals for the Hyundai Blue Prize+2025 reflect and interrogate the deeply unsettled times Asia is facing at a time of unprecedented technological acceleration, deepening geopolitical uncertainty and escalating ecological breakdown.”

The five finalist teams will receive one-on-one mentoring sessions with the jury and the opportunity to develop their exhibition proposals through a research tour in China. Of these, two teams will be selected to present their exhibitions at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing in 2026 and 2027.
